To ensure a continued reliable and affordable supply of quarry materials for the Sunshine Coast construction industry, and to help us continue to deliver vital infrastructure for the region, Heidelberg Materials are submitting a development application (DA) to the Sunshine Coast Council for changes to the existing Glasshouse Quarry operations.
The DA will seek approval to increase the annual extraction volume and the depth of the quarry without increasing the existing approved extraction area footprint.
The quarry commenced operation in the 1980s, and we have operated it since 2003. Across its history, the quarry has supplied quarry materials for local roads, bridges, pavement, driveways, housing slabs and much more across the Sunshine Coast.
We also remain a proud, long-term employer in the region with many of our team, suppliers and contractors living in the communities surrounding the quarry and the near region.
Almost every Sunshine Coast resident has benefited from the Glasshouse Quarry. Over 70% of our quarry products supply local projects including family homes, hospitals, schools, roads, airport runways and sea walls.
We contribute to many of our local schools and charities while also supporting local businesses through the purchase of services, supplies and equipment wherever possible.
Heidelberg Materials is committed to communicating openly about our operations at the Glasshouse Quarry, and we regularly meet with neighbours and interested stakeholders to exchange information and receive feedback about our operations.
Our local team is here to discuss the project and our proposal. If you would like to speak to our community engagement representative, please email: glasshouseinfo@aus.heidelbergmaterials.com
