Glasshouse Quarry

Future plans for existing quarry

To ensure there is a reliable supply of quarry products for the Sunshine Coast construction industry and to help deliver vital infrastructure, Hanson will be submitting a development application (DA) to Sunshine Coast Council for changes to the existing Glasshouse Quarry.

The DA will seek approval to increase the annual extraction volume and the depth of the quarry without increasing the existing approved extraction area footprint.

Proud history

The quarry commenced operation in the 1980s and Hanson has operated it since 2003. Across this time the quarry has supplied quarry products to build local roads, bridges, pavement, driveways, house slabs and much more across the Sunshine Coast.

We are also a proud, long-term employer in the region with many employees, suppliers and contractors living in the communities surrounding the quarry and the near region.

Hanson in the community

Almost every Sunshine Coast resident has benefited from the existing quarry. Over 70% of our quarry products supply local projects, such as family homes, hospitals, schools, roads, airport runways and sea walls.

We supply quarry products to many external customers including Sunshine Coast Council, the Queensland Government, major construction companies, small businesses and individual property owners.

Hanson also contributes to many local schools, charities and supports local businesses through the purchase of services, supplies and equipment wherever possible.

Hanson is committed to communicating openly about its operations and regularly meets with neighbours and interested stakeholders to exchange information and receive feedback about the Glasshouse Quarry.
